The Circle in Communities

Developing healthy partnerships
At HeartShift we aim to grow partnerships with carers and organisations involved in child development and community strengthening. We work together to apply the COSP approach where strong support systems already exist. Our hands-on approach serves to enhance the work you do to help children and families thrive.
We welcome opportunities to work with:
  • Baby Wellness Clinics
  • Day-Care Centres
  • Adoption Agencies
  • Children’s Homes & Foster Care
  • Family NGOs and Charities

Why adopt Circle of Security?

Making secure attachment accessible to all
COSP is built on decades of attachment research which is now influencing public policy world-wide. The research shows that developing secure attachments to primary caregivers is a protective factor in a child’s mental and physical wellbeing. It’s also the foundation for social and emotional regulation. Both simple and multi-faceted, COSP is highly effective cross-culturally and in under-resourced areas.

A facilitated and reflection-based intervention

Informed by caregiver trauma throughout its development, COSP establishes:
A road-map for developing specific relationship capacities in caregivers
A secure base for caregivers to explore their strengths and struggles
A template to help caregivers reflect on their own childhood experiences
An awareness of a child’s attachment needs and how to meet them
An experience of co-regulation that caregivers can pass on to their child
An improved sense of self as a caregiver and positive affect towards child

Children don't get traumatised because they get hurt, children get traumatised because they're alone with their hurt.

Our Communities

Families we've journeyed with...
  • "If we could just learn to listen to our children instead of always yelling, we could change the cycle of anger and violence."
    - Mother, Heideveld
  • "I am so, so grateful. When I go and visit my grandson in prison now, I can connect with him in a way I couldn't before."
    - Grandmother, Heideveld
  • "I realised how my trying to control him was getting in the way of our relationship. I had to learn to let go and just learn to be his ma."
    - Mother, Heideveld
  • "The bit about shark music really made sense to me. It gets me to a more calm position and it helps a lot."
    - Mother, Heideveld
